The SIG 553R in classic 7.62x39 definitely is the "Czar of AK's" made by SIG in Switzerland.

Based on the unreached Swiss Arms SG 553 system the 553R (Russian) combines world reknown and life depending Swiss engineering quality with the powefull Russian 7.62 x 39 round, bringing the SIG 55X design full circle back to it's inspirational origins.

At $3300 the 553 is not your burn up and throw away AK, but one of the most expensive variations of the AK design, intended only for decerning operators, that want warfighting quality with clock work precision from the box.

Originally intended for the ex Eastern-Block and emerging Middle East and African markets, at this price numbers so far are small and ownership a privilege for a small exclusive circle that can afford the name of the western worlds most exclusive cornerstone weapons forge and this rare but ultimate AK variant.

SIGs thinking behind the Swiss super automaton 553R is, to bring back a known strong round for CQB by developing a new rifle instead of new ammunition and simultaneously breathing fresh life in to the vast stocks of 7.62x39 lurking in storage with different eastern governments,

that are also on budgets these days.

After IWA Nürnberg 2013 the 553R was quickly referred to as the “Toblerone-Kalaschnikov” by detractors. The nick-name didn’t stick though.

Egyptian Special Forces, already SIG customers, broke the ice for more illustrious customers like Russias FSB, Alpha and Vympel who acknowledge world leading Swiss barrel making, simpler maintenance, better accessory possibilities, 800g less weight and last but not least a reachable safety switch you don’t hear, over the AK. Logistics are symplified further, by the cost effective and commonly available standard AK magazine used on the 553R.

45mm groups at 100m out of the box, speak their own in any language of "Schweizer SIG Qualität".

The SG 553 SOW (Special Operations Weapon) line finds it's extention now with the 553 R in 7.62x39, to provide Black Ops with battle field pick up logistics and to have "deniability" in the sterile arm and ammo niche market.

For small units who operate far behind enemy lines or are training up irregular fighters in enemy territory, things like resupply become ciritcal. Removing ammo from the logistics chain is part of the reason for the 553R to begin with.

If all the weapons in the area are 7.62x39mm, then having the option of going with the local caliber will cut down on logistics, yet still give the high-tech advantages of the 553R.

Yes, SIG is expensive. But as per Swiss tradition you get your moneys worth back over the counter, you are buying a life depending, warfare quality warrior weapon that will last generations and survive the light of civilisation going out.

I could see new dark age wanderings in search of reknown SIG weaponry taking place in a post-apocalyptic scenario.

SIG has become a legend in it's own right and is a pillar of our western culture and society, that will see you

TO HELL AND BACK.

The "Black Banner" AK Owner Velcro Patch of the AK Brotherhood / Sisterhood for all users and enthusiasts of the AK system in all it's variants and origins is available directly from us for $9.99 per patch, including international postage.

The raised AK symbolizes “The Peoples Gun” putting power in the hands of the individual to fight for his place, rights and beliefs in life.

The wreath elements symbolize laurel leaves of victory of the armed individual, being the true sovereign over his fate, governments and politics, or alternatively as a grain wreath, a reminder that we fight for our land or home and the harvest of our hard work we intend to protect. Also reminiscent of an ancient roman wreath it symbolizes culture, heritage and the values of our culture.

The empty black banner stands for the 100+ million people armed with the ubiquitous AK; Commoners, Rebels, Guerrillas, Pirates, Revolutionaries, Radicals, Subversives, Insurgents, Anarchists, Peasants, Separatists, Secessionists, Freedom Fighters, Warriors, Resisters, Partisans, Survivors, Preppers, Concerned Citizens, Operators, Enthusiasts and Aficionados.

All the actual, irregular and clandestine AK cultures are represented by and in the nameless metaphorical black banner.
